Challenge

The manufacturing process of magnesia bricks involves the use of dies placed within moulds, and hydraulic presses that use considerable force to form the end products. Any movement of the dies within the mould would result in failure, which is why steel wedges are used to lock the dies securely in position. When it becomes necessary to remove the wedges, due to the forces exerted by the press, inevitably the wedges become incredibly difficult to extract from the mould assembly.
